Found on the web: The worlds most useless machine

Ive been thinking about this idea for a little while now and I think it could be used as a goal setting tool. I’ll admit, this concept still needs some work but I hope to refine this idea into something great!
This chart stems from the idea that my idea of happiness could be broken down into its root elements and related in a logical “Venn” pattern. The overlapping circles could show the relationship and product of root ideas and could possibly be used in a meditative or affirmative sort of way. I think it goes without saying that happiness is relative to the eyes of the beholder, so this diagram is really just a reflection of what happiness looks like to me. Note: The side window of little “faces” on the lower right hand side is another concept that I hope use in a future Idea.
I would encourage others to try this exercise in a much simpler level in terms of discovering life Goals:
1. Start with 2 “root” passionate ideas that you think would bring you happiness. These would be represented by two overlapping circles. ie: “staying in shape” and “helping people”
2. Picture the overlap of these two root ideas to create a resultant idea. This new zone is what I call the Product. In the example, if I was passionate about staying in shape and helping people, I might say that is will bring me satisfaction.
3. Make a decision. Is this overlapping zone a product or should it be promoted to a root? If it remains a product, then for you, this will be the outcome of pursuing the roots. On the other hand, if it should be a root, then ask yourself if it could be sustained indefinitely. If the answer is no, then it cannot be a root. For example, Love should always be product. It would be dangerous to make Love a root because you would always have a dependency on something that could be lost. Truth is a perfect root, because its something sustainable and that should always come naturally.
4. If the product is something you feel that should be a root, move it to root status with its own circle and Rearrange the diagram appropriately.
5. With the readjusted diagram, recalculate the products with the intention that the center is just one of many definitions of happiness.
In my example, the 3 most important things that I can practice and refine are Truth, Light, and Karma. In my diagram I have 3 roots which yield 4 products.
Initially this Diagram encompassed only 2 “roots”, Truth and Light. But as I thought about what happiness meant to me, I realized that I was missing the one thing that truly changed my life for the better, Karma. When I added Karma to the equation, it changed EVERYTHING and believe me, I was blown away to how well it worked out.
I admit, my diagram is pretty encompassing with only 3 roots. In a more practical sense, simpler and more numerous root structure could make more sense like: “playing guitar”, “cooking”, “saving lives”, “learning”, “mastering Kungfu”, etc…. The more roots, the more “products” are revealed. This can be a handle tool to generate some goals in your life to look forward to.
In my example:
1. Love is a product of Truth and Light.
The light embodies ideas of positivity, purity, and goodwill. When coupled with truth, trust, and openness, we develop a connection into ones soul; these are feelings of love or respect.
2. Peace is a product of Truth and Karma.
I believe that Karma, the universal law of “what goes around come around” can be balanced with such virtues as humbleness and nobility. So you could say that with being truthful and making peace with Karma, we attain a state of calm, and one can create peace with those around us and peace inside ourselves.
3. Harmony is a product of Karma and Light.
With acts of humbleness and nobility combined with the positivity and goodwill for others, we can achieve a state of harmony.
Happiness.
The culmination and balance of all 3 root virtues/ideas.
I never thought anything of it. I’ve seen young teens on the mountain with fancy headphones blasting music into their poor little ears but thought nothing of it until I thought I’d give it a try.
AMAZING.
I cannot so much as describe how awesome it is to listen to Cello music while gracefully gliding down a mountain without any fear or worry whatsoever. You forget that you are skiing and it just becomes natural. You fly down the mountain with such grace and ridiculous speed and when you get to the bottom you have this rush of pure joy as you come to the realization that it was so easy and fun… then you realize that when you stop thinking about something, you can finally appreciate the beauty, you can finally experience the joys of living without the distractions of thinking.
Let me leave you with this idea that just came to me as I stood there in the mirror flossing and realizing that I’ve been pretty good at doing this consistently over the last 3 months.
If we are creatures of habit, then we need to make habit work in our favor.
I ask myself why do all habits have to be negative and why there are so many.
1. Could we shift the balance in our favor?
2. Can we CREATE our own good habits with a little work?
3. Is it possible to have control over this?
The answer to these question is YES.
We start by identifying habits in general and then our mind learns to see them throughout the day.
As we see continue to see and identify them, we should congratulate ourselves every time we notice a good one in action. Eventually our minds will learn that this is the proper way to be habitual and will reinforce and propagate new positive habits that we will notice are making our lives so much better.

As I go about my day pouring my thoughts into my Moleskine,
I often stop, look up, and think to myself,
“Brain, your messed in the head”.
And then it always replies,
“Rylee, I am your head”.
And just out of need I say,
“oh…”
I always get the last word in.
I sometimes ask myself how one goes about making a non-tangible dream a physical reality. Not just an idea from a really cool product or business opportunity, but also the grandiose notion of manifesting the dream itself.
This website is a archive of catalytic ideas, observations, and reflections collected over a period of well, since 10 minutes ago! I will be opening up some of the pages of my collected ideas and hope that it inspires others to find their creativity and make the world a better place.
